"open wide the windows of our spirits and fill us full of light; open wide the door of our hearts, that we may receive and entertain Thee with all our powers of adoration." - Christina Rossetti
about
First published in late 2001, Open Wide Magazine has gone on to become a highly regarded publication around the world.
With our Feel Free Press imprint we published two print anthologies 'Poems Written Whilst Staring Death In The Face' and 'Destination Anywhere', thirty-two broadsides, a paperback poetry collection by K.M Dersley and chapbooks by Debbie Kirk, Luke Buckham, Shane Allison and Dan Provost. Also as Open Wide Books we published online chapbook collections from Ben Myers, Melissa Mann, Ben Barton, James D Quinton and Emily McPhillips.
So far twenty-three issues of the magazine have been published. Issues one, two and three were print, then issues four to eleven online, with issues twelve to twenty in print. A hiatus occurred in 2009. But now back, and being published (for the time being) online, we hope to continue to stand out amongst the crowd, doing things a bit differently.
The magazine costs just £1.50 for a PDF copy that is mailed to you at the email address you provide us with via your Paypal account, unless you specify otherwise . Legal.
editorial statement
Open Wide Magazine
isn’t just an opportunity for you to get one more publishing credit to your
name.
Over the years we have strived to establish a good relationship between publisher and writer. We care passionately about what we do, the creative effort you put in when putting pen to paper, and although we only publish a small fraction of the submissions we receive, that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate you choosing us as a potential outlet for your work. We hope that when you choose to connect with us that you’ll see us as more than just another publisher to fire your work at. In addition please join our Facebook group page (search Open Wide Magazine) and keep in touch. We also encourage new writers, as well as established voices, to submit.
